Gretchen Starks: A Life of Faith, Leadership, and Purpose
Gretchen Starks accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age, loving the Lord from as early as she could remember. Through the guidance of her parents and grandmother her spiritual foundation was established in Detroit at Lockett Memorial Church of God In Christ under the late Pastor Willie J. Joshua. It was there that her spiritual journey truly began, receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost at the age of eight. Since then, she has remained steadfast in her walk with God.
Today, Gretchen is a compassionate leader, devoted wife, intercessor, and business partner to international recording artist Elder Derrick Starks, with whom she has shared 29 years of marriage. Together, they co-founded the Starks Music Group Record Label, creating a platform for impactful gospel music. A dedicated mother of four and grandmother of one, she carries a deep commitment to healing and deliverance, leading her to launch Oil of Joy Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries in December 2024.
Her prophetic gifts emerged early in life, often through dreams and visions—many serving as warnings. As a teenager, she began to prophesy and see in the Spirit Realm. A gifted songwriter, Gretchen authored Let the Healing Begin, an inspiring piece featured on Bishop Paul S. Morton’s 2004 Seasons Change project and set to be included in Live in Germany 2025. She also penned Reigneth, both songs produced by Elder Derrick Starks.
Beyond ministry, Gretchen is a multifaceted professional. She operates the online Fifty Seas Travel Company while maintaining a full-time career as a flight attendant in the aviation industry. Additionally, she has served as the Midwest Regional Coordinator for the COGIC Israel Jurisdiction Department and remains actively involved in ministry across New Orleans, Louisiana, and Detroit, Michigan.
